Jackie Urioste Bio Pic

Jackie L. Urioste, BS, CAT, MRT

My name is Jackie L. Urioste. I recently retired after 25 years with the Colorado Department of Human Services, where I worked in the Behavioral Health Administration. My focus was on substance use and mental health, supporting licensed providers in these important areas. I specialized in cases involving DUI (Driving Under the Influence) and DWAI (Driving While Ability Impaired). I connected healthcare providers, DUI offenders, the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), and probation officers, making sure they had the latest information about DUI. My goal has always been to improve the lives of those facing these challenges, creating a better environment for both providers and clients. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice, which helped me understand the criminal justice system and its effects on people dealing with substance issues. This education has allowed me to work effectively and improve outcomes for those I assist. I am a Certified Addiction Technician (CAT), which shows my knowledge and skills in addiction treatment and recovery. This certification helps me address the various needs of people struggling with substance abuse. I also completed training in Moral Recognition Therapy (MRT), a method that helps improve moral reasoning and encourages positive behavior change in people with substance use disorders. This training enhances my skills in treating individuals who are primarily offenders of substance abuse. Throughout my career, I have gained a deep understanding of the challenges faced by individuals receiving a DUI/DWAI. I have learned about the psychological, emotional, and social factors that influence addiction. I am committed to helping individuals as they navigate difficult situations in their lives. My passion for this work drives me to find new ways to support those seeking healing, ensuring they have the resources and guidance they need to overcome their struggles, especially with DUI and DWAI issues.
